National Tree Day Vision Statement
An event which uses outreach and mass communications to inspire, educate and recruit Australians to actively care for our unique land and create future generations of committed environmental custodians.
National Tree Day Aim
To increase the environmental, educational and community development outcomes of mass plantings of endemic Australian plant communities.
Objectives:
Environmental
- To increase the number of native plants propagated.
- To increase the number of native plants planted in Australia as appropriate to the local area.
- To promote care of previously established Tree Day sites.
Educational
- To increase knowledge about the environmental benefits of creating healthy endemic plant communities.
- To increase understanding of the need for ongoing custodianship of Tree Day sites.
- To increase access to resources related to the environmental benefits of native plant communities.
Community Development
- To provide participants with a positive, hands-on experience.
- To involve individuals and community groups in communal tree propagation, planting and ongoing care.
- To increase local support for Tree Day associated green groups.
Partnerships
- To acknowledge the contribution of partner organisations.
- To increase the number of partnerships with educational, community and corporate groups.
- To provide a positive partnership experience for those partner groups and organisations.
