Dungog Shire Council
Dungog Shire Council has actively encouraged the community over the last 4 years to be involved with National Tree Day with emphasis on community involvment. Over the last number of years we have had:
- Individuals planting natives on river banks for conservation purposes
- Scout groups landscaping our local skateparks under landcare directions
- Lions clubs maintaining and beautifying our local reserves
- Schools creating ‘green machines' within their school grounds

Council provides the trees and the community does the work - a partnership that is growing every year, just like the trees themselves. Over 250 trees were planted in the Shire in 2005 with the hope that we can not just continue but increase the tree plantings. Council will have the trees available a little earlier this year to enable more people to be involved.
