Tamworth City Council

Tamworth Regional Council will be contacting schools and community groups in the Tamworth region and inviting them to participate in Schools Tree Day and National Tree Day 2006. Council is willing to supply seedlings with stakes and tree guards provided by Tamworth Toyota.

In 2005 Council officers, Natasha Soar and Geoff Mitchell assisted a variety of community groups with organising:

  • 7 public sites around the region where more than 1,000 trees and shrubs were planted
  • 22 schools planted over 700 trees and shrubs around the region
  • Assistance was also provided by Tamworth Toyota, the Rural Fire Service brigades, Landcare and other groups.

A similar program is planned for 2006. Natasha and Geoff are seeking assistance from schools and the community. Native trees and shrubs are sourced from the Forestry NSW Nursery.
