Australia is a big country, filled with native plants and animals that you won't find anywhere else in the world. Australia is one of only seventeen "Megadiverse" countries on earth. Megadiverse is a term used to describe countries with an especially large variety of native plants and animals (also known as a high level of biodiversity). These seventeen megadiverse countries, including Australia, contain around three-quarters of all the types of living things on earth!

Each year the AMP Foundation sponsors a Schools Tree Day competition. In 2007 there was a $1000 prize for the 25 schools who sent in the best video, photograph or ad for Schools Tree Day.
