AABR

AABR was established in 1986 out of concern for the continuing survival and integrity of bushland and its dependent fauna in or near bushland areas, and seeks new members and friends for promoting good work practices in natural areas. The Association's aim is to foster and encourage sound ecological practices of bushland management by qualified people, and to promote the study and practice of Bush Regeneration.

The WEEDS C.R.C. may be no more but it's website will be available for 2 years at www.weedscrc.org.au.

It has a wide range of great resources such as a series of management guides for environmental weeds. They are available at www.weedscrc.org.au/publications/weed_man_guides.html#biodiversity

There is also a list of the 26,242 introduced plant species in Australia, including the 2,739 that have naturalised and another 5,907 species present in Australia which have weed histories elsewhere in the world. AABR has produced a report with WWF-Australia on the effect of garden plant escapes on bushland in Eastern Australia. Click here to download the Report. The report is based on information from those working in remnant natural areas. Many respondents are AABR members.

Those working in education may be interested in a recently launched bushcare manual for schools "The Cumberland Plain Counts Bushcare with Students: A Teaching Manual and Guide for Natural Resource Management in Schools". It can be found on the Sydney Metropolitan CMA website - www.sydney.cma.nsw.gov.au. At present it is under the heading "latest news" but can also be found by doing a search of "schools" then click on the link to "Bushcare Support" and then click on the link to the manual on the bottom of the page.

The Volunteer Coordinators Network Group is for members of the Volunteer Coordinators Network or those who'd like to join. Any professional coordinator or facilitator of a community environmental program is eligible to join. Examples are Landcare, Bushcare, Dunecare, Streamwatch, Waterwatch, Saltwatch, etc. Run by AABR as a service to the Volunteer Coordinators' Network (Natural Areas).
