Making a Difference

We believe sustainability education is vital

AAEE’s approach to promoting environmental education is positive, cooperative and inclusive. Over almost 30 years, AAEE has worked with government and non-government organisations in the interests of quality education and environmental change.

In Australia and globally, education is increasingly recognised as a vital means of achieving sustainability. Environmental education has evolved from nature studies to sustainability education, and from information provision to community development which enables people to ‘get out there and do it themselves’ — at home, at work and at school.

AAEE exist to provide a forum for the Australian community to share their knowledge and expertise. It also serves to represent environmental educators discussions, debates and recommendations to issues and directions for a sustainable future. AAEE has a 10 step vision for the community and your are invited to read and consider how you can support this.

AAEE also includes a number of Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) for members: Indigenous Knowledge; Teacher and Teacher Educator; Early Childhood; Decade of Education for Sustainable Development; Early Career Researchers; Vocational Education Training; Transformative Learning.

AAEE has professional links with similar associations and it is through strong partnerships like these that we ensure a positive, cooperative and inclusive framework for change through education. Please view them below.
